Jonathan Y. Shin,

Esq. (Of Counsel)

Jonathan Y. Shin takes a results driven approach. Strategy, skill, creative thinking, and passion, inform his work. Ensuring that his clients’ interests are fully protected and served is an uncompromised priority for Mr. Shin. Mr. Shin was born in Texas, yet spent most of his life in Southern California. Mr. Shin attended the University of California, Irvine for his undergraduate degree. Science, medicine, and the human body were of particular interest to him so he enrolled as a pre-med major. However, while studying to become a medical doctor, Mr. Shin found a new passion for oral advocacy and decided to switch gears and attend law school. Mr. Shin’s passion for oral advocacy continued throughout law school where he was welcomed onto Chapman’s prestigious moot court team. For two consecutive years, Mr. Shin received national recognition and was ranked as one of the top two advocates in the nation. Mr. Shin was also given the unique opportunity to take the lead role on a high-stakes deportation trial as a law student. After nearly three years of litigation and before Mr. Shin graduated from law school, he had won his first trial. His unconventional success story was featured on the front cover of the OC Weekly, as well as other various news outlets. Mr. Shin’s academic achievements and performance also found him selected to be featured on Kore Asian Media, and allowed him to graduate with an emphasis in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution.

Although Mr. Shin never became a medical doctor, his interest in science, medicine, and the human body remained. Naturally, Mr. Shin decided to focus his practice on personal injury matters, where he was able to dovetail his interest in medicine and the law.

When not in the office, Mr. Shin enjoys spending time with his family, wrenching on cars, and reading books. Mr. Shin also enjoys giving back to his community by volunteering his time and providing pro bono work at legal clinics. Currently, Mr. Shin is the President of the Orange County Korean American Bar Association Foundation – an organization focused on charitable causes.
